Here are some of the parts of a 2″ 4 Plate Stainless Steel Reflux Column:

Firstly, Column body: The main body of the reflux column, and made of stainless steel.
Secondly, Bubble plates: These are perforated plates that are located inside the column. The vapors rise up through the holes in the plates, and as they do so, they come into contact with the liquid returning to the tank. This contact helps to purify the vapors by removing impurities.
Thirdly, Dephlegmator: A section of the column that contains a condenser. The dephlegmator condenses some of the vapors and returns them to the column, improving the purity of the final product.
Lastly, Condenser: A section of the column that cools the vapors and converts them back into liquid.

When using a reflux column, the liquid to be distilled must be heated in a boiler (not included with the reflux column). The vapors rise up into the column and pass through the bubble plates. The dephlegmator condenses some of the vapors and returns them to the column. The uncondensed vapors continue up into the condenser, where they are cooled and converted back into liquid.

The number of plates in a reflux column will affect the purity of the final product. A reflux column with more plates will produce a more neutral spirit.
