Carapils Malt
To summarize Carapils Malt a unique, dextrine-style malt that increases foam, improves head retention and enhances mouthfeel without adding flavor or color to your beer. Notably Carapils malt a special type of malt known for producing a fuller body and improved head retention in beer. Subsequently this malt obtains highly modified barley which has a low degree of enzymatic activity and low levels of diastatic power. Giving the malt reduced potential fermentability. Also Carapils malt usually used in small amounts to help improve body and head retention in light beer styles such as lagers and pale ales. This malt also provides a nice golden hue to the beer as well.
How to use Carapils Malt
A type of brewing grain that adds body, mouthfeel, and foam stability to finished beer. Notably most often used in light-colored beers such as lagers and pilsners. However Carapils Malt also used in stouts and wheat beers. To use it, milled it and then must be added to the mash at the beginning of the brewing process. Depending on the beer style, it can be used at between 2-10% of the total grain bill. Too much Carapils malt can lead to hazy beer with limited head retention, so brewers should be careful not to use more than is necessary when brewing your beer.
