How to use Simpsons Aromatic-Highly kilned malt
In brief to use Simpsons Aromatic-Highly kilned malt, begin by milling the grains in a grain mill. Notably done in order to crack the tough husks of the grains and release the starches inside. Once the grains are milled, add directly to the mash tun. However they can be mixed into the mash water prior to mashing.
However this malt must mashed at a temperature of 145-152°F (63-67°C) for 60-90 minutes. Depending on the desired beer style. During this time, enzymes present in the malt will convert the starches in the grains into sugars. Then extracted and used in the fermentation of the beer.
